The guy in the photo is my good friend for over 70 years, Art.
Top removed and welding the other one on.
Up to this time, this was the largest project I/we had attempted.
The roof was super rusty by the drip rails, we found a donor cab and cut the top in the middle of
the ‘A pillar’ and just in front of the seam at the rear of the roof, and welded it back together..
Even this cab roof was very rusty, but not nearly as bad as what came with the truck.
I could not find anyone making repro steel or fiberglass roofs back then,
now I have seen stamped steel roofs, don’t need it now.
A bit of tacking and welding and it all comes together as shown below.
