So this hole has to be covered up

A Stainless container was found, marked for centre and drilled to fit over the steering shaft

And then it needed to be cut at an angle to match the toe board

And fitted in place it looks very neat

with a nut machined down to fit as a collar it looks finished,
 also with the brake pedal in place it had to be checked for clearance

As you can see the brake pedal just clears
