If you look closely at the pieces in the whole mounting arrangement, you
will notice a chunk of heater hose for each.
That is synthetic stuff (urethane
I think) that is near bullet proof. I used a piece for each mount
to isolate the bolt from
touching any frame metal that would
send vibration from the frame to the cab. Should work fine...
I hope.
The rectangular pad is the 3 layer
stuff I got from my former student. The round piece just below the
heater hose chunk
is the lower body mount pad from
the suburban body that was originally on this frame. Those were in
good shape,
and just happen to fit right over
the heater hose piece. The design is a composite of several systems I've
seen, and while it
took way too much time to build,
it should be a good means of handling the noise and vibration transfer
from the frame.
I'll use a similar though smaller setup on the other 4 mounts that will
be underneath the main cab.
One pair will be at the rear just
behind the door latch post and inboard a few inches.
The other pair will be mounted
mid cab and in the same frame location as where the engine mount cradle
will be.
That will work to reduce
the amount of fabrication a bit by combining the two mounting needs, engine
and cab,
onto one crossmember.
