Back To page 40 For my 55th
birthday, I decided to give myself a treat and
I relocated my rear end on my COE.
Mostly, I was just so sick of of it
looking "awkward". Here are
before and after pictures. And there is
still a long way to go in completing this
modification...but it looks so much better
already.
The rear storage box mounting bracket
is now located inside the spring mounting
bracket.
It used to be behind it. (there is
a picture of that here).
That
was the determining item on
how much I could move the rear
axle forward. It worked
out ok. I hacked a huge
hole into the drivers side box for frame
access to move that side spring bracket.
I hope I didn't remove too much
material. It worked out
pretty good. Box on passenger side is
coming along very nicely. Everything
moved 6 1/4". Driveshaft
is being shortened today so
there is no going back. I used an old
pair of vice grips and made a hand press to
create the bead roll on the aluminum filler
pipe.
I
also included some detail shots of fuel filer pipe.
