For my 55th birthday, I decided to give myself a treat and I relocated my rear end on my COE.
 Mostly, I was just so sick of of it looking "awkward".   Here are before and after pictures. 
  

  And there is still a long way to go in completing this modification...but it looks so much better already.
  The rear storage box mounting bracket is now located inside the spring mounting bracket.
 It used to be behind it.  (there is a picture of that here).

 That was the determining item on how much I could move the rear axle forward.  It worked out ok.
 
    
I hacked a huge hole into the drivers side box for frame access to move that side spring bracket.
 I hope I didn't remove too much material.

  

It worked out pretty good.  Box on passenger side is coming along very nicely. 
Everything moved 6 1/4".  Driveshaft is being shortened today so there is no going back.
 

 I used an old pair of vice grips and made a hand press to create the bead roll on the aluminum filler pipe.  
I also included some detail shots of fuel filer pipe.
