The deep depression is on the front side. As you can tell the new transmission and engine sit in the frame on a tilt.
Engine fits best under the doghouse that way and does not interfere with driver leg room.
I was able to use the smaller GM transmission mount instead of the big Dodge one.
The NV4500 transmission was installed in both Dodge and GM trucks so there is some parts interchange ability.
