I am sure you will agree that the Fenders would look Art Deco and very cool and they
would except when I have the Coupe on the Bed , because the Bed would be
elevated at the front which would make the wheels tuck into the back half of
the Fender and not be in the Centre anymore, very uncool,

972
The solution would be to mount the Fenders on the Chassis and not the Bed.
So last night while lying in bed before sleep I worked it out, mount the Fenders like the
18 Wheeler Trailers do, so today I checked the Chassis above the rear springs and found 3 holes
that could be used to mount the Bracket to hold the Fender brace I found some tubing that I could use,
I then had a brain wave or explosion (grin) and thought, why not make it easier to load any car
by making the Fenders come out further when loading and then go back in when
loaded, so I found some thick wall tubing , actually a Truck Steering inner
shaft and pushed that into the first found tubing, it fitted !!!, so after a
bit of cutting and welding,

973
I mounted the Tube onto a plate which bolted onto the Chassis, plenty of spring clearance,
plenty of wheel clearance, so far so good, so then I slipped the old Steering Shaft into the tubing about
4", by doing it 4" meant I had enough to make four of them,, I am thinking of drilling the side of the
tubing and welding two nuts on the outside then the bolts will lock onto the steering shaft and hold it in place,

975
on the other end of the piece of steering shaft, a plate will added to go up to the fender brace,
there is a template there at the moment, so this will all be duplicated to the front of the Fender as well.
The only down side that I can think of is that when it is time to slide the Fender out,
I will have to crawl under the truck to undo the bolts allowing the shaft to slide out a bit.
If there is too much flex in the tubing shaft arrangement, I will need to put a support strap as far outboard as possible,
but then this would need to be loosened of as well when sliding the Fender and as the Bed Tilts they will need to be totally undone,
also the front of the Fender at where it normally bolts onto the running board, these bolts will need to be undone.
