Trial fitting the Cab for the Engine and
Transmission placement

We did not use the fuel
injection I bought a four barrel manifold and carburetor
from Summit,
just a whole lot easier. The engine we took totally
apart, new timing chain, bearings, rings,
and ground the valves. The cylinder walls were amazing good,
so we used the same pistons.
Engine runs amazingly smooth and quiet. 700R4 transmission
came from the Van also,
the rest of the van was scrapped.
We did all of the Engine work, the Transmission and rear
end seemed to be fine.
For the power brakes we used an older Mustang
master cylinder and booster you can see it
beside the engine in one photo I did not want to mount it on
the fire wall,
not a lot of room there (as you know) and I didn't
want 'swinging pedals'.
It was kind of a tight fit, but it works.
I had an old Cadillac steering column, we adapted that to
the Chevy steering box,
and put on a smaller steering wheel. Sorry no photos
of that.
The dash only has two holes in it, lights and the starter
button (original Ford type)
It has the '41 Speedo and gauge cluster, I found a
better one than what was in the truck.
The 'doghouse' is the same, but we had to cut the right side
panel
and patch a 'bulge' into it the valve cover protrudes
in about 1.5".
Foot room is really tight, the drivers side is stock but the
clutch pedal is now gone, still tight.
Gas pedal is in the original place and we used the
original gas pedal.
As you know lots of imagination to make parts so
everything works.
The battery is in the original location under the
right seat.
I use new electric windshield wiper motors, one for
each side.
