We used the ‘75 GM 1 ton frame
and running gear with very few modifications on that frame.
This also has a new aluminum cross flow
radiator.

The 350 SBC
engine
had a 4 barrel we just cleaned that up.
A few years later, same model had fuel injection, just
glad we didn’t have to fool with that.
We did pretty much everything, rebuilding the engine and
installing an automatic TH
400 transmission
We cleaned up the
engine with rings, bearings, timing chain and ground the
valves,
but they were in pretty good shape, the engine was
apart, so why not?
A difficult problem was the steering linkage to
the steering box.
We had to used 3 “U joints” and a stabilizer bearing to ‘bend’
it into alignment with the stock GM box.
Scraped and cleaned the frame and painted it black.
The ‘56 was easier to do, we didn’t have to
modify the frame,
we just fit the ‘sub frame’ that was under the COE cab
to the GM frame. Everything is larger so more space to
work with.
I had an upholstery shop do the interior. Inside
of the cab is basically stock.
Inside has a nice fitting bench seat out of a
different model, but it fits very nice,
better than my original ‘56 seat on my ‘’56 pickup, I
believe it came out of a ‘58 F100.
