1940 D300 International
I had originally planned
on using some tubing and creating my own bracket
bases, but once I looked
the Suburban setup over fully, it became obvious that
slicing out the floor base latch areas was the way to
go.
Here you can see how the seat latches are formed
Cutting
the floor base latch sections was by far
the most efficient way to get it done,
plus saved a ton of time in fabrication.
The seat mounting setup for the
D did come out nicely, and is very solid.
The back of the seat has a trip handle so the
back rest can be tilted forward by itself,
with will make it very easy to have storage behind the
seat.
It should be rather easy to come up with a lock
to keep that seat back from being movable when at
shows.
That way we can keep items of value locked in
the cab without have to close it all up.
It did take too long … as usual …. to get that
seat setup all configured.
The primary support 1x2 tubes that go under the
seat sides forward and back, are countersunk into the
original D300 seat support sides.
That was necessary to create a level support
framework, which was needed to make use of the mount
brackets.
A couple of bracing tubes are still in the plan
for the front mounts, and one cross tube at the front
will be needed,
and then the side tin work can be done.
