I built this truck in the mid 1990's to haul customer cars. The conventional  trailers and tow trucks were too high to haul these lowered vehicles.
I decided to build this truck low enough that I could get the lowest of street rods on lt with out ramps or blocks.
I traveled across the country to many car shows looking at COE trucks, the majority were placed on 1 ton truck chassis.

I didn't want the towed vehicle to be drastically higher than the cab of the COE, so I went with front wheel drive
to eliminate rear axles and driveshaft. This allowed the ramp to sit much lower to the ground,

The drivetrain came from a 1978 Olds Toronado, the last year of the heavy duty suspension and half shafts,
1979 and on were downsized versions.
I initially used the 403 cu in motor from the 1978 but it proved to be underpowered,
so I replaced it with a built 455 cu in motor after driving the truck a year.

The rear tandem axles are Dexter tag axles that are torsion bars encased in rubber for up and down suspension travel.
I used the entire torsion bar front suspension and engine cradle from the Toronado.
