I had been discussing a method of burst proofing
my doors , I was shown a method used on a 34
Coupe which I felt could work,
it involved removing the dove
tail
and replacing it with a special striker pin from a
VW, it required filling the 4 mounting holes and re drilling it
with two holes that would match the Dove tail mount
holes, that fixes half the problem, the other half involves
making a slotted plate to accept the striker pin,
so a Stainless Steel Plate had a slot cut in it and
two
mounting holes drilled and
chamferred , the only drilling required on the Door Pillar was
to mount the Stainless plate
Here you see the completed
burst proofing, well I guess if an object hit the COE Door and
was large enough to spring the door open,
this plate and pin should prevent it, I may have to do
some adjusting on the door to stop it dragging just a little
bit.
