So with the Radiator having a split in the bottom
Tank I could have it fixed
or get another Radiator .The other problem with the
old 42 Ford radiator
was that I had it pressurised which on reflection may
not have been a good
move, the top tank would expand when it got hot and
contract when it was
cold. It was only a matter of time before something
let go, so as we were
going to a large swap meet the following week,
I had decided to look out for another radiator.
This Nissan Patrol Radiator was found at Ballarat Swap Meet
and bought for $30
When I got home I washed it and the fins started
disappearing from the core, see the bits in red
The size of the radiator was good 29" High and 21" wide
Now the Outlets on the Nissan Radiator were all the wrong
side, you can see where I have painted a silver spot,
this is where I need the new outlets to be, so the radiator
was taken to the radiator shop where a new 4 row core
was fitted to replace the old 3 row core.
To give the radiator a bit more room I replaced the old
bottom part of the frame with this channel,
even that will need modifying for the bottom hose outlet
So here is the new radiator complete with Fan. shroud ,
hoses and the round bump stops you see
will sit against the firewall. the only drawback with this
radiator is that it has to be removed from
the COE as you see it here and it is awkward with the
bottom bolts protruding.
